CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -- First steps are being taken to reconstruct a Cheyenne Regional Airport Runway.

The $45 million runway reconstruction project will take three years. Construction should start next summer.

This week crews are looking at the soil beneath the runway to determine its stability. They are working through 37 holes that are being drilled.

The information gathered from the soil will help the airport put its design for the runway together.

Tim Barth, at the Cheyenne Regional Airport, said, "We're not quite sure what's going to creep up, but we know that we are going to have some challenges in front of us."
