CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -- UPDATE: Cheyenne Fire Rescue was called out at 1:16 a.m. Friday to storage building fire at Snyder Avenue and 22nd Street.
When fire crews arrived on scene at 1:19 a.m. they found a steel storage building fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke. Firefighters were able to cut a hole in the side of the building which allowed them to quickly attack the fire. Firefighters were then able to get inside the building to extinguish the rest of the fire. Firefighters were hampered by the fact the building was at near capacity. An aggressive attack by firefighters prevented the building from being a total loss.
The fire was under control at 2:28 a.m. and firefighters cleared the scene around 8 a.m.
Assisting with the fire were crews from Laramie County Fire District 1 and 2 along with the Cheyenne Police Department. A Cheyenne Police Department officer reported the fire.
Dollar amount damage to the building and contents is unknown as this time. Cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or fire personnel.
ORIGINAL: Cheyenne Fire Rescue, Laramie County Fire District #1 and Laramie County Fire District #2 responded to an apparent structure fire at the intersection of Snyder Avenue and West 22nd. This incident happened around 1 o'clock in the morning on Friday, July 12th, 2019.
