CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -- Fire Prevention Week first began in 1922, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). That's when the NFPA first sponsored the week.

Cheyenne Fire/Rescue Chief, Greg Hoggatt, said it's a week focused on educating kids. "What they've learned as a kid, they'll take with them through their adult lives," said Chief Hoggatt. He encouraged parents to take the time to learn about what their kids are learning this week.
