CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) A City of Cheyenne staff member is looking back on new businesses that popped up around the city last year. 2019 was the first year for Brendan Ames in the position of Cheyenne’s Chief Economic Development Officer. Ames was tasked with redeveloping 45,000 square feet downtown and by the time the end of the year rolled around, nearly 192,000 square feet of redevelopment and business activity was completed or happening.

“We’ve had other businesses open up on Lincolnway, you start to see a little bit more foot traffic and it’s exciting to see that we’ve exceeded those expectations,” said Brendan Ames. “It’s going to be hard to follow this year but I anticipate we’ll see more happening.”

Some of the new businesses to the downtown area of 2019 include The Metropolitan, Red Bison, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, and The Array School.
