Cheyenne woman arrested for the death of her child
A Cheyenne woman is facing serious charges, including murder, following the death of her child.
CBS Newschannel 5 is learning that Laramie County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested Sabrina Ashley Sawicki, 25. She's facing one count each on charges of First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.
Booking information shows Sawicki was wanted on a warrant and arrested on Monday (8/7/17).
According to a release, on April 24th Laramie County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to CRMC reference a possible child abuse. Hospital staff reported that an unresponsive 13 month old male child was transported to the hospital by ambulance; the child was treated in the hospital trauma unit before being life flighted to Children’s Hospital in Denver. Hospital staff believed that the child’s injuries appeared to be suspicious and contacted Law Enforcement.
The child passed away on April 27th and an autopsy report released this week indicated that the cause of death was ruled a homicide caused from “abusive closed head injuries”. A warrant was issued for Sawicki’s arrest and she was taken into custody and booked into the jail on August 7th.
Sawicki has made her initial court appearance and is scheduled to return to court next week.
