Cheyenne merchants get second shot at small business day after snow
Downtown Cheyenne merchants are not to be deterred by bad weather when it comes to Shop Small Saturday! They will be doing a Shop Small Take2 with a ‘do-over’ on Saturday, December 7th.
The forecast for Saturday looks great and small business owners are hoping families will come downtown shop, dine, explore, visit with Santa and enjoy an evening of holiday cheer with the rescheduled Christmas parade and tree-lighting.
The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has been working with both merchants and restaurants to help spread the word about this extra Shop Small event. Ten participating restaurants will be offering Small Plate Specials in addition to over twenty retailers running in-store Shop Small specials.
In addition to Shop Small Take2, residents can visit the downtown Chari-Trees display at the Plains Hotel. Each tree is decorated by a local nonprofit; and trees can be bid on or donations dropped off. The trees are on display until December 14th.
Saturday, December 7th, also marks the beginning of ‘pop-up’ Santa in downtown businesses. On Saturday, from 10 am – noon, Santa will be in the Plains Hotel lobby with caroling and hot chocolate. From 1-3 pm, he will be at Just Dandy on 17th Street. On Sunday, December 8th, the Jolly Old Elf will be at Mary’s Mountain Cookies, on Lincolnway, from 1-3 pm.
Details on these, and other, special holiday events can be found on Downtown Cheyenne’s Facebook page or by contacting the DDA office at 433-9730 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
