Cheyenne has been ranked one of the lowest cities in “bike friendliness” according to a website called The city was ranked 1.2 out of 5.

The website analyzed factors such as fatalities and the estimated number of bikers in each city.

Cheyenne City Council member, and “Father of the Greenway”, Pete Laybourn, says that he does not agree with the study.

“We have a lot of great facilities here. We have 40 miles of Greenway that is safe, and totally separated. We’ve got an on-street system and low traffic in most neighborhoods.”

Laybourn did mention that being aware is always a factor which will make the city more bike friendly.

“We sometimes are a little careless, I think we have to really be aware that bikes can be anywhere.”

Along with practicing awareness, Laybourn encourages Cheyenne residents to get their bikes out, pump up the tires, and enjoy the beautiful weather.
