CHEYENNE, Wyo. (RELEASE) - Between July 19 and July 28, officers with the Cheyenne Police Department were occupied with Cheyenne Frontier Days, ensuring that visitors and participants had a safe event.

Throughout the 10 days of CFD, all CPD officers were tasked with working the various CFD activities, including the parades, pancake breakfasts, Thunderbirds Airshow, rodeos and nightshows. A total of 58 vehicles were towed for unlawful parking, most of which were in the Avenues neighborhood. At Frontier Park, CFD security handled the majority of incidents, however, CPD officers still responded to 65 calls for service. Of those calls, there were 8 fights, 3 accidents, 4 cases involving counterfeit bills, and two cases of sexual battery.

The CPD is looking for additional witnesses in regards to a sexual battery case involving a carnival ride operator, Felipe Catalina-Juarez, 36, of Mexico. On July 26, Catalina-Juarez was operating the Zero Gravity ride when he was witnessed touching the crotch of an adult female patron. If anyone else witnessed similar activity at this ride, Detective Fernandez is seeking further information and can be contacted at 307-633-6638. Catalina-Juarez was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery. This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.

Alcohol consumption by minors at CFD is a concern for the CPD every year and this year saw a concerted advertising campaign to reduce underage drinking. The efforts included pre-entertainment videos, posters throughout the park, and a social media campaign. A preliminary count for this year’s underage drinking offenses at Frontier Park include: 14 underage drinking, 1 public intoxication, 1 open container, 2 furnishing alcohol to minors, 1 false ID and 289 age verification contacts, final numbers are still being collected.
