CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -- The Cheyenne City Council is moving forward with a proposed 2020 budget. During a Committee of the Whole meeting yesterday, City Council passed a budget with a 9-0 vote. The $56 million budget still needs to be ratified at Monday's City Council meeting.

Councilman Scott Roybal said that there is no longer a city hiring freeze. The council found $190,000 in the budget to end the freeze. The Downtown Development Authority is approved for $290,000 if the budget goes through on Monday, June 10, 2019. Roybal also said that the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is also going to see an increase in funding.
