Cheyenne Animal Shelter hosts pet food giveaway
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter will be hosting a pet food giveaway on July 8 from noon to 2 P.M.
According to Ashley Christiansen, the shelter's executive assistant, an overabundance of pet food donations prompted this move.
“We’ve got a pretty big garage, and we’ve got so much that our shelves are starting to cave a little," she says.
Attendees are asked to drive up to the parking lot and stay in their vehicles with some form of face covering for safety reasons.
Employees will then meet people at their vehicles to help get the food loaded up.
Despite an employee with the shelter testing positive for COVID-19 a couple of weeks ago, all of the staff are back from quarantine, having now tested negative for the virus.
As such, the shelter does not predict any issues with staff shortages for the event.
"The quarantine is over -- I was one of those employees who was quarantined -- the Health Department has taken care of all of that," says Christiansen. "We're good to go. No other group tested positive."
Despite the overabundance of food, the shelter is still asking for other resources it needs, such as monetary donations, liquid laundry soap and distilled water.
