CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) A Cheyenne 6th grader has been named one of the 50 Kid Reporters for Scholastic Kids Press. Luis Reyes says he loves news because of the people and the new opportunities it can bring.

“I like new experiences and I like meeting new people and I feel like it’s going to be a fun experience being able to meet new people and all of that,” said Luis Reyes.

The eleven-year-old says he wants to cover trends and important events not just in Cheyenne, but throughout Wyoming especially after being born and raised in Cheyenne. Luis says his journey of becoming a Kid Reporter started with the help from his school librarian.

“We have the world’s biggest outdoor rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days, and it’s just a small town,” said Reyes. “You can kind of figure everything out quickly enough, you can know the town like the back of you hand.”

Luis helped anchor the 5:30 p.m. news on Oct. 7, check out the video above to see him!
