Central wrestling coach looks for effort over technique

Cheyenne, Wyo.- Have you ever heard of a wrestler who isn't confident? Us either.

Kyle Brightman, who's entering his fifth year as the Indians wrestling coach, is trying to build up his teams confidence before the season.

Brightman wants his wrestlers to focus on having confidence and giving their all on the mat, rather than fixating on technique.

"We as a coaching staff think can advance kids a lot more mentally than technically," said Brightman.

"Now, that's not to say we don't work on technique, we work on technique quite a bit, but with all sports, attitude, mental attitude and mental toughness, is first. We train in the room everyday physically, we should take some time to train mentally," Brightman said.

The Indians won't be traveling too far for its first dual of the season, as the team will compete at the Charlie Lake Invitational in Cheyenne Friday, December 7th.
