Casper Regional Wayfinding Plan gives residents the chance to choose what describes Casper

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Casper Mountain? Downtown Casper? Casper College? Casper residents had the chance to voice their opinions on potential waypoints around the city Tuesday at the Natrona County Courthouse.

The Casper Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and RDG Planning and Design have been meeting with local residents about the Casper Regional Wayfinding Plan this week.

“We want to better understand what the residents think is most important to them. It’s very important that this project is an extension of the community,” Ryan Peterson, landscape architect and RDG Planning and Design partner, said.

The plan will help areas around the city become more visible through different signs. The community had the chance to pick which areas best describe Casper and how the signs will be displayed by filling out a survey.

The survey asked residents where they take guests, where they spend their free time and to choose images that best describe the region.

Visit Casper says the plan has the potential to benefit locals and visitors.

"I think the neat part about this project is that it really does serve our visitor economy. It also helps drive quality of life, sense of place and ownership as people who live here. I feel like it's a win win across the board for residents and locals," Brook Kaufman, Visit Casper CEO, said.

There will be more public input sessions as the plan progresses.
