Boy Scouts hosting virtual food drive

The Boy Scouts of America, Greater Wyoming Council is hosting a virtual scouting food drive for the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies.

"Since our founding 110 years ago, scouts have always come to the aid of their communities in need from selling bonds during World War I to food and clothing drives during the Great Depression," said Brad Bodoh Scout Executive for the Greater Wyoming Council.

And now they are stepping up to feed those in need of food.

"Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies has partner pantries and distribution locations though out the state so partnering with them, scouts through out the state can help solicit funds for food pantries in their local communities and at the same time they get the opportunity to learn about community service and helping out others who are in need," said Bodoh.

Their goal is to raise $4,000, which would provide 16,000 meals for families in Wyoming.

"Learning citizenship and community service is an important part of what young people learn as part of scouting. So we needed to brainstorm, how do we make sure that element of what we do, is incorporated during this time and this fits," said Bodoh.

This virtual food bank will last through May 15. For more info on how to donate go here: https://bit.ly/2KtRUNX.
