The baler building at the Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility opened Monday after over a year of construction. Highlights of the renovation include expanding the waste floor, doubling capacity, and adding three commercial waste truck bays. “This building expansion improves customer service by reducing the need to drive to the landfill cell,” explained Solid Waste Manager Cynthia Langston. “However, not all waste items will be accepted at the baler building.”

Some of the common wastes that cannot be disposed of at the baler building are:

• Dirt, concrete, brick and rock

• Mattresses, sofas, and wood furniture

• Lumber and landscape timbers

• Metal items

• Animal carcasses

A full list is available at the facility and on the City of Casper website

“We have several large containers such as a construction and demolition container conveniently located near the baler building for residential customers to discard items that need to go to the landfill,” explained Langston. “When customer let the scalehouse clerk know what is in their load, they can be directed to the correct disposal location.”
