CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Nicolaysen Art Museum to host an exhibit done by people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. They will host a reception on Nov. 14. At 5:30 p.m. A preview of the art will be open Nov. 5th.
Art that will be on display at the Art through the eyes of dementia exhibit.
The museum partnered with Wyoming Dementia Care to show this art. Curators say this exhibit helps patients express themselves when they can’t do it verbally. Also, have a sense of independence.
“For most of the patients, their day is arranged and people taking care of them. Sometimes they don’t feel the sense of control taken away from them. It is art where they have more choices. They have this sense of control taken away from them,” said Zhanna Gallegos, Education Curator.
The exhibit and the reception are free. It will be up until the end of the year.
