CHEYENNE, Wyo. (WYOMING NEWS NOW) -- A Dedication to the Dream: Dr. Carson’s Pursuit of MLK’s Vision is happening this Thursday, February 13th at 6:30pm - 8pm.
Black History Month
Laramie County Library System and Laramie County Library Foundation are proud to present Dr. Clayborne Carson in celebration of Black History Month. Having attended the 1963 March on Washington and listened firsthand to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s profound words, “I have a dream,” Dr. Clayborne Carson is uniquely positioned to teach about King’s works, beliefs, and impact. In 1985, Coretta Scott King provided Carson with all of MLK’s personal writings; he has since dedicated his life to the King Papers Project, the comprehensive collection of the civil rights leader’s sermons, speeches, letters, publications, and personal writings. Founder of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University and editor of numerous books on King’s life, Carson is considered the foremost scholar on Martin Luther King, Jr.
Join Laramie County Library System as they welcome Dr. Carson to Wyoming for the first time and listen as he details Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and work, free at the Cheyenne Civic Center. A Q&A session and book signing will follow the presentation.
