Carl Rippy is a long-time weather enthusiast and became Wyoming News Now's evening meteorologist in August of 2019.
Wyoming News Now is thrilled to add Carl Rippy to our already sterling team of broadcasters.
A weatherman and television personality originally from Idaho, Carl was drawn into broadcasting as a young man. His fascination with weather began when lightning struck close to him and his father during a summer storm in south central Idaho. Rippy’s mother said, “He’s been jumpy ever since.”
Carl comes to us from within our Gray Digital Network bringing experience from many walks of life. He grew up "ranch" in south central Idaho and considers himself part cowboy, part "outlaw".
Carl is committed to communicating interesting, fun, and accurate forecasts, while also covering stories from time to time in his classic "Carl-fashion".
Carl also looks forward to serving our community outside of station duties as a volunteer for numerous functions. You may see him hosting an event as an emcee, talking to groups about weather or inspiring folks with one of his motivational speeches.
Carl said in his spare time he loves to ride his "Steel Horse" through the unique landscapes and terrain of the Cowboy State, giving him a chance to meet our viewers and experience our Wild Wyoming Weather from the saddle of his 1997 Harley Davidson Road King.
If he's not riding his motorcycle or horse, you'll find him at the gym, library, local coffee shop or participating in many outdoor activities no matter the season.
