Aaron Brown joined Newschannel 5 in September of 2016 and is one-fourth of the evening news team.
A native Wyomingite, Aaron was born and raised in Cheyenne before moving to Albuquerque, NM right after graduating from East High School.
While in New Mexico, he got his first taste and experience with news as an Airman in the New Mexico Air National Guard (NMANG) working as a Broadcaster with the 150th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland AFB. Aaron was trained at the Defense Information School (DINFOS) in Fort Meade, MA, in 2011, and went on to tell the NMANG story for the next five years. His Air Guard career saw him deploy to cover humanitarian missions with the 210th REDHORSE Squadron, and covered multiple big events with the guard, including the coming and going of several Wing Commanders. He also held a position at the Air Force Safety Center Headquarters from August 2013 to January 2015, where he earned the Air Force Achievement Medal for outstanding video production.
Aaron also worked on the civilian side as a Floor Director and Remotes Operator at KRQE News Channel 13 in Albuquerque, NM. At KRQE, Aaron gained experience in a busy news room, constantly learning the ins and outs of broadcast journalism on both sides of the camera. Aaron worked closely with anchors, reporters, producers and directors in a news team that kept up with a busy news region in New Mexico.
When reporters and anchors at KRQE saw Aaron's productions from the Air Guard, several told him that he needed to become a reporter. Following their advice, Aaron returned to his home town in Wyoming to join the team at KGWN.
