CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Torrington quarterback Bryce Hager has been as reliable as they come for the Trailblazers’ football team, and his performance across the season netted him 2A Offensive Player of the Year.

Of course, he helped lead Torrington to their first state championship in 33 years, and said that the execution in the game could not have been any better.

”[It was] amazing. I had faith throughout the entire game. Knew that I could get the ball to my key playmakers. My line could protect me, and I just had time to do what I needed to do,” Hager said.

In the title game, Hager accounted for 176 yards and a touchdown through the air, while adding 76 yards and a score on the ground to help the Blazers down Big Horn 28-26.

He actually ended up leading 2A in rushing TD’s with 20 (no one else had more than 15); the senior was also fourth in all-purpose yards with 2037 and his 1187 pass yards checked in at fifth. On top of that, Hager’s defensive prowess this year has flown under the radar because of his QB play. He led Torrington with 147 defensive points, 19 tackles for loss and 10 sacks, and was second in total tackles with 76.

After starting off the season 0-2, he said the team never lost faith in their abilities.

”Week by week, we just focused on the things we needed to improve week by week. Improve on one thing and then work on the next thing the next week. Just keep going, keep rolling, trusting each other and believing in each other,” Hager said.

Congratulations to Bryce Hager and the entire Trailblazers team on a phenomenal season.
