Cowboys have a chance to be undefeated at home against Hawai’i
Words from Coach Bohl, Andrew Peasley, Jordan Bertagnole, and Kolbey Taylo
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This year, especially the past month, has felt like a season of missed opportunities for the Pokes.
But, this week coming up against Hawai’i, Wyoming has a massive opportunity to make a statement about exactly what War Memorial Stadium means and go perfect at home.
“I think a lot of it is a statement to our fans,” Head Coach, Craig Bohl, said. “I want to say thanks. Our home game atmosphere is off the hook and our student section is great. I know we’re late in the year, so there’s maybe going to be some other plans by some people, but it’s been great to play at home. Our players enjoy it. It’s a phenomenal home game atmosphere and our players feed off that energy.”
“That is very important, we have to come in here and get this dub so we can finish the season off strong,” Cornerback, Kolbey Taylor, said. “Things ain’t work out how it’s supposed to be, but, we still have a chance to be 7-0 at home and that’s what we’re going to get to.”
“I think it’s important this week just for myself and the other seniors, it will be the last chance we get to play on this field,” Quarterback, Andrew Peasley, said. “Go out with a bang and going 7-0 at home is a big deal.”
Hawai’i shocked a lot of people this last week by knocking off the Mountain West’s top team, Air Force. When they come to Laramie the Rainbow Warriors will be looking to shock another Mountain West foe. The Pokes are preparing for what’s to come.
“We gotta get some explosive plays on offense. Particularly out of the running game. It’s gotta come from our Tailback position. Andrew made some explosive plays in the running game. He can do that. But, we have to get some explosive plays out of that tailback position. We need to be able to stay on the field on third down,” Coach Bohl said.
" I think, as a unit, as a corner group, we need to take away the pass game. That’s what they want to do, they want to come here and think they can throw the ball. We have to be on detail and we have to take away the pass game to win this game,” Taylor said.
“We just gotta create a rhythm, get in flow, and create explosive plays. That’ll be our big key this week,” Peasley said.
“Everything isn’t going to go your way,” Defensive Lineman, Jordan Bertagnole, said. “The biggest thing is learning from adversity. We’ve had a lot of adversity the past couple weeks. So bouncing back from that, definitely having the fans behind us is going to be huge. We’ll show them something special this week and finish out the season on the right note,”
It’s a noon kickoff on Saturday from Laradise and Wyoming News Now Sports will be here all day bringing you all on field and in depth coverage.
