East wins a close one against Natrona County and other 4A Semi Final results

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - East secured their fifth 4A State Championship appearance in the last five years with a 17-10 win over Natron County.

Both of the Thunderbirds touchdowns were products of quarterback Cam Hayes. The first a five yard reception by Drew Jackson and the second a goal line QB sneak.

Natrona County’s run game was something to watch, along with their defense. The Mustangs held the Thunderbirds to just three possessions in the first half. Natona’s lone touchdown came on just their second passing attempt of the game.

In the fourth quarter, down 17-3, Trig Berens found Dawson Clark in the back of the endzone from about 25-yards out to make it a one possession game. That was a fourth down heave.

The Mustangs comeback came up short though.

East has a date with Sheridan in the 4A State final for the second year in a row.
