CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -In a recent decision, the Wyoming Public Service Commission (Commission) has given the green light to Black Hills Wyoming Gas, LLC d/b/a Black Hills Energy (BHWG) for a decrease in wholesale gas costs. The rate reduction of $0.1104 per therm for non-Choice Gas customers was approved, effective September 1, 2023.

The new rate adjustment is expected to directly benefit a substantial customer base, totaling 67,241 individuals. This includes all divisions in Cheyenne and Cody, along with non-Choice Gas customers in Casper, Gillette, and Torrington who have chosen the Gas Cost Adjustment Rate.

This decision comes after a thorough review of Black Hills Energy’s application and supporting documentation. The Commission ensured that the proposed rate decrease meets regulatory requirements and is in the best interest of the consumers it impacts.

However, it’s important to note that the Commission’s approval is subject to several conditions, including notice, protest, intervention, refund, change, further investigation, opportunity for a hearing, and additional orders if needed.

The primary objective of this rate adjustment is to pass on cost savings to customers, aligning with the Commission’s commitment to fostering a fair and balanced energy market. By lowering gas costs for non-Choice Gas customers, the Commission aims to positively impact household and business expenditures related to energy consumption.

Customers are encouraged to stay informed about this change and any potential developments that may follow. The Commission remains dedicated to ensuring that the interests of consumers are upheld and that utility providers continue to operate transparently and efficiently.
