CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The East golf team went up to Sheridan over the weekend and became the 4A state champs, and Daniel Meyer put on an electrifying performance to take home the individual title as well.

He entered the final day of the tournament in third place overall, and turned his game up a notch during the closing round at Powder Horn Golf Club. Meyer posted a 74, which was tied for the second lowest score on the weekend.

”After Day 1 I knew I was in it, and I didn’t think a lot of people thought it was going to be me. I knew that I could’ve played better, and I left a lot of shots out there and had a few mistakes. I knew that Day 2 I could win it if I just kept it to a few mistakes. I had a couple bad holes, but I was able to bounce back and put a good score up,” Meyer said.

Meyer became the first East individual champ in five years, and showed massive improvement in the process. His freshman year he was very last in the field at states, last year’s tournament he finished in 21st place at 18 over par, and progressed to just 7 over par in the 2023 championship.

Between both rounds he totaled 151 strokes, and found himself in a war that went all the way down to the final hole.

”I had to make birdie on the last [hole], and I had like a three footer to make. Hands were trembling, and I was just able to get it in the cup. Very nervous and excited that I was able to pull it off, really” Meyer said.

Congratulations to Daniel Meyer on his title-winning performance.
