Nuestra Herencia Event in Cheyenne This Weekend
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - As Hispanic Heritage Month continues, it is also Wyoming Archaeology Awareness Month. The Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office will be holding an event to celebrate both Hispanic Heritage and Wyoming Archaeology Awareness, called Nuestra Herencia.
The Archaeological side of this can promote and explore stories that are not passed down in history while the Hispanic heritage aspect involves sheep herders originating from Peru that have a big impact on the sheep herding economy. Both of these events are considered “very important” and it was “awesome” that the event could even be celebrated, according to Melisa McChesney, Curator of Community Engagement for the Wyoming State Museum.
This event will be held at the Wyoming State Museum on Friday September 22nd, from 4-6:30 PM. At the event, there will be dancers, a taco truck, and a lecture.
