CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In honor of September being National Suicide Prevention Month, the Natrona County Suicide Prevention Task Force hosted their 20th annual Breaking The Silence Suicide Prevention Walk.
Sheena Hixson, the coordinator of the Natrona County Suicide Prevention Task Force, says, “This walk is to bring people together who have been touched by suicide in one way or another so they can connect with others and just not feel so alone and stuck in their struggles.”
The Breaking The Silence Suicide Prevention Walk received an outpouring of community support. The event serves as an opportunity to celebrate those who have had the courage to seek help and remember those who have been lost to suicide. It’s a reminder that you are not alone, whether you have personally struggled with suicide or have lost a loved one. Gatherings like these are a part of building a stronger, healthier community.
Hixson says, “As long as suicides are happening we’re never going to stop. We’re never going to stop spreading awareness and trying to spread hope and trying to connect with others.”
