CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Mike Brelsford volunteered over 4300 hours at Banner Health in Casper and touched the lives of many. On September 15, the hospital honored him by naming the surgical waiting room after him.

Mike’s wife, Mary Anne Valentine, says, “He thought of the banner people as his family. it’s just an honor.”

Mike Brelsford spent most of his time volunteering on the surgical floor. He described his work as a volunteer as “a daily dose of humbling.” He was awarded the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his volunteering efforts. Mike’s last act of service was being an organ and tissue donor upon his passing in May. Dozens of friends, family, and hospital staff gathered to celebrate his life and open the doors to the newly named Mike Brelsford Surgical Waiting Room.

“I’m emotional. It’s just such a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. He loved volunteering up here,” Valentine says.

Those who know him say Mike Brelsford will be remembered for the ray of sunshine he brought to the hospital.
