CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month adults in the Cheyenne Area can go to the 3rd floor of the Laramie County Library and enjoy guided yoga from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This is free of cost, all equipment is provided, and there is no prior yoga experience necessary. Participants will practice yoga for 45 minutes, and then are invited to share a literature-related item like a favorite quote or a poem.
“As we age, and I’m an aging person, as we age [we need] to continue to stay active and mobile, and providing chair yoga can that. Some people might think it’s an “easy” practice, it’s not necessarily. It can be as strenuous as you need,” said Robin Hopkins Guse, a Reference Specialist at the Laramie County Library.
Staff involved with this program said they hope this provides a space for residents to focus on both their mental and physical health.
“We came up with the idea to do an hour practice, so that’s 45 minutes of movement yoga, and then actually came up with idea for the 15 minutes of literature share, so that’s the community piece. It’s really important for us that when people come to the library they get to develop community and be outside their homes with other people,” said Toni Brannan, a Yoga Instructor with Blossom Yoga.
