CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Starting today off with a look at our severe risk, we should be dry for most of Wyoming today which means no risk of storms but we could see a stray storm around Yellowstone and Jackson this afternoon. Showers and storms aren’t expected to be severe and aren’t expected outside of those areas today.

Tonight will be on the cold side with 50s and a lot of 40s around the area tonight. Our lows are cooling down the further we get into September and with cooler air on the way this weekend and next week, our lows could drop even further.

Some good and bad news though, for everyone heading to the Pokes game this weekend, it’ll be a great day to watch some football but there is a chance of some stray thunderstorms in the area around kickoff and later into the day. Be prepared just in case it’s a stormy start to the game and pack your umbrella, or maybe just a poncho. Other than the storms, it’ll be a nice 77 degrees with some cooler air behind the storms.

For our extended forecast, nice and warm the next two days but the cold front moves in Sunday bringing in that storm chance and dropping our highs down into the 60s for most of next week. Definitely fall weather as we get towards the middle of September. Be prepared in case some storms get a bit strong and we are getting into the time of year where winds are stronger so wind gusts could cause some travel impacts.

In Casper, we don’t get as cool as Cheyenne and the rain chances are less likely but we still could see some stray showers. Those fall temperatures will also move in for us and we’ll stay in the 70s all week long. Again, winds could be gusty as we get closer to winter and we’ve already had some breezy days, including today. So be prepared in case we get some stronger winds later this week.
