CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Community is an essential element to health and wellness, that’s why the YMCA of Cheyenne hosts the senior picnic. The YMCA of Cheyenne hosts several monthly events for the senior community.
“The picnic is great, I get to see some of the people I workout with as a member of the YMCA. Its kind of family,” said attendee Gabe Barajas. The senior picnic takes place annually every September.
“Comradery, I lost my husband a year and a half ago and so to come out here and to get together with a group of people keeps me from getting lonely. It’s a great place to be,” said community member Marcie Rulon.
The picnic was held potluck style, and attendees were happy to spend time with their exercise class friends outside of the gym.
“Oh I just enjoy the comradery and enjoy the friendship we all have here, going to all the classes you get to know people, but you’re only there for like an hour or two. This gives you some time to get to know everybody better,” said attendee Heyward Schrock.
So if you or a senior you know is looking for a sense of community and comradery, be sure to checkout the senior events happening at the YMCA.
