CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Pine Bluffs Hornets are still your kings of the 1A 9-Man Football. The Hornets beat Shoshoni 36-12 Thursday afternoon in a matchup of last year’s 2022 state championship game.

Believe it or not, this was a three point game going into halftime after the Wrangelrs scored 12 unanswered. But Pine Bluffs came out of halftime locked in, scoring 21 unanswered points

The X-Factor in this one was the Hornets run game, they out ran the wranglers 331 yards to 143. A big part of that was Ryan Mohren, the Junior went for three touchdowns and 207 yards on the ground.

“It’s great, it’s awesome, the line I have is absolutely amazing,” Mohren said. “I can’t thank them enough. They make such great space for me and I kept going on up field.”

Mohren was also involved on the defensive side! He had 10.5 tackles and a sack on the night.

The Hornet defense produced three take-a-ways, one fumble and two interceptions.

Junior Justin Lerwick, went 8-24 for 72 yards in his first game behind center. While you would want more accuracy, the lack of interceptions is a big sign for a young man getting comfortable in the starting roll.

The Hornets have not lost a game in almost two years, if the passing game clicks like the other two phases of the game, the streak could continue through 2023.
