However, there is a different type of risk today. Dry heat, low humidity, and strong winds are all in place across Wyoming and in some areas, it’s very good weather for fires to spread. Due to this, we have a Fire Weather Warning until 8:00 PM tonight in a large portion of Wyoming. Fire weather warnings mean that conditions are favorable for fires to spread quickly and have the potential to get out of hand quickly. Keep that in mind if you are planning to start a fire outdoors whether it be a grill, campfire, etc. If you can postpone any outdoor activities using fire until later this evening, then it would be a great time to do so.

Tonight’s lows are going to be very cool with 49 being a common temperature for us this evening which is below average for our lows. Downright cold on the western edge of Wyoming as well. While it will feel like the middle of fall for our lows, our highs will feel like the middle of summer.

For tomorrow’s highs another hot day is on the way for us with high 80s and 90s tomorrow. This could lead to more fire weather tomorrow as well so keep that in mind for tomorrow and any Labor Day plans this weekend.

Speaking of Labor Day, looking at our extended forecast, hot temperatures will stick around for our week into the weekend but be prepared for rain as storms could move on into the area starting on Friday all the way into Monday next week. Luckily for us, it brings in cooler temperatures for a little while and gives us a break from fire weather.

In Casper, today brings in fire danger due to the heat, winds, and low humidity. The rest of the week could also keep that fire danger elevated due to hot temperatures. Scattered showers are possible later on into our weekend so bring an umbrella to any Labor Day plans.

As a bonus for today, if you’re heading to Laramie for the Pokes opening game, you also might want your umbrella and maybe a jacket. Kickoff is at 5:30 PM and around that time we could have some scattered showers. Thankfully they should clear out during the first quarter and not linger around all game. Temperatures will be around 78 degrees at kickoff but as we get later on into the evening, our temperatures will fall to 65 degrees at 9:00 PM and 62 degrees at 10:00 PM.
