CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Casper resident, Teka Perry is representing the state of Wyoming for the Ms. Wheelchair America Competition.

Perry says,”I feel like a queen honestly. I just feel like this has been the best thing to come out of this injury honestly, is having this opportunity to represent Wyoming.”

This week Perry is in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she is competing for the Ms. Wheelchair America Crown. She says this event is not your average pageant. The Ms. Wheelchair America competition aims to empower women to pursue advocacy work for people living with disabilities. Perry says this event is much more than a competition, it’s a way for her to make a difference in her own community and beyond.

She says, “Absolutely I would love to win Ms. Wheelchair America so I can go around and advocate for everyone with disabilities.”

The crowning ceremony for Ms. Wheelchair America will be Saturday, September 2nd.
