CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Isolated showers and storms are possible here today. Not everywhere will see rain and there isn’t any severe weather expected but we still could see some heavy rain with a few pop up storms.

Meanwhile, we do have this high pressure system trying to stop any storms from developing however, just to the south, Tropical Depression Harold is making it’s way over land and to the north. The remnants of Harold will eventually bring it’s moisture over Colorado and into the Cheyenne area. Seasonal moisture and the moisture from the remnants of Harold will mix together and the atmosphere will have a lot of precipitable water in it. For those of you who didn’t catch our weather word segment on precipitable water (PW) it’s a measurement of how much water in a column of air can rain down. Not all of the water in the atmosphere can come down as precipitation which is where PW comes in. There will be over an inch of PW in the atmosphere so we could see quite a bit of rain over the weekend.

One good thing about the rain is that it will bring cooler temperatures into the area which will be a welcome sight. The 90s and upper 80s will come to an end and we’ll be much more comfortable outside. But the rain isn’t here yet and we have another hot day outside. 80s and 90s across most of Wyoming today and tomorrow.

Tomorrow's highs are going to be cooler but still hot in some areas.

For our extended forecasts, Friday brings in the storms and rain with cooler temperatures and the storms will stick around until Monday when they move out of the area. After the rain moves out, upper 80s return to the area.

In Casper, we have the storms on Friday but they won’t stick around long and the temperatures will warm up quickly with 90s again into the new week ahead. Summer just doesn’t want to leave yet.

Daily storm chances start today with our best chance on Friday and the weekend.
