Food Bank of Wyoming gears up for National Hunger Month
One in nine Wyomingites grapple with hunger
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - During the month of September, the Food Bank of Wyoming is bringing the topic of food insecurity to the forefront.
September is National Hunger Action Month. The reality is, anyone can struggle with food insecurity. One in nine folks in Wyoming face hunger. Children and adults over sixty are particularly vulnerable. Last year, the Food Bank of Wyoming distributed nearly ten million pounds of food across the state. During Hunger Action Month, the food bank hopes that folks educate themselves and act against hunger in their communities. The month of September is the perfect time to make an impact.
Rachel Bailey, the executive director of the Food Bank of Wyoming says, “With the support of the Powder River Energy Foundation, CoBank and Basin Electric, they have pledged a match of $35,000… Your one dollar, which typically equals three meals for the Food Bank of Wyoming, will actually equal six.”
