CAPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Back to school season means back to school shopping. With inflation rates soaring, some parents are struggling with the costs of getting their kids prepped for the school year. A few Casper businesses are working to help ease the burden.

Jeremy Hugus, owner of Platte River Injury Law and Cowboy Country Criminal Defense says, “Rising tides raise all ships. The more everybody else in the community has an opportunity to be their best, give their best to their community… I think everybody wins.”

Hugus teamed up with other local businesses to do a backpack giveaway in partnership with the Casper Boys and Girls Club. Together they will be donating over 900 backpacks full of back-to-school essentials free of charge. It’s a small gesture with the potential to make a huge impact. For many kids, it’s a confidence booster.

Hugus says, “In a sense it’s like, well it’s just a backpack or it’s just a haircut, or it’s just a new pair of shoes or something like that... but any of those things that help someone take a little extra pride in themselves when they show up. I think it helps them give more of the best parts of themselves. I think it does really make a difference.”

The free backpack giveaway will be on Monday, August 14 from 3-6 pm at the Casper Boys and Girls Club.
