After being eliminated in the semi finals last season, the Natrona County Mustangs are getting ready for the upcoming 2023 season.

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Natrona County Mustangs football team is coming off a semi final appearance in the 4A state tournament, and after 9 months they’re back preparing for the 2023 season.

“When we sat in the locker room after losing to East, I think we all that... We all kind of like, had something in our mind that we this, this isn’t gonna be how our senior season goes we’re gonna, yeah, we’re just gonna dominate we’re gonna go as far as we can.”

The mustangs are coming back with a good mix of seniors and juniors this season, as they got back to practicing on Monday. They’re coming back from an 8-3 finish from last season that earned them the 3rd seed.

Although their first game is set to start in a couple of weeks, Coach Harshman is loving the energy that this group is bringing to these early practices.

He said, “Well I think our kids are doing great, we’ve got great participation, and they all got great energy and, ya know and thats that fun part. You’re kinda starting to bring it all together, the kids are learning and learning from each other, and getting to know each other and really kind of build something special that’s what you try to do.”

The orange and black are getting ready for their first game set for August 25th against Laramie.
