CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Extreme 18u team just returned from the Colorado USSSA State Championships in Loveland over the weekend, and Caitline Kaul displayed a little bit of everything in her offensive arsenal.

She said that tapping into her love of the game has been a major key for her success.

”I feel like I’ve grown quite a bit in the aspect of just enjoying the game and being there and enjoying the girls. I mean I’m just here to have some fun, honestly. That’s what summer ball is about, so I just had some fun with them,” Kaul said.

It’s always fun when you’re playing well, and Kaul stood out as a crucial source of production for the team. She batted .556, going five for nine at the plate in the four games extreme played, and picked up a couple big hits with a double and homer as two of the five knocks. In total, she drove in five and scored three runs herself to lead Extreme to three wins against some tough competition.

With another big tournament on the horizon in Casper, Kaul feels good about where both she and the team are at.

”I’m pretty excited for the upcoming state weekend that we have. I think we have a good group of girls that are going into it for Extreme. Our chances of winning I think are pretty high with this group. I’m just overall pretty excited, I mean [I think we have a] good chance,” Kaul said.

The Wyoming USA State Championships will take place July 13-16.
