CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Starting our forecast today we do have a risk of severe weather in the southern parts of Wyoming today. We could see some heavy rain, strong winds, and even some small hail at times through our evening. These storms will be most likely in the areas in yellow but are still possible through the state. Places such as Casper could see storms with heavy rain and some gusty winds as well.

We have a slight risk (2/5) in the yellow area and a marginal in the dark green areas

For our lows tonight, things will be chilly, down into the low 50s and upper 40s. Some areas will still be seeing rain or be wet from the rain earlier on in the evening so you might want a jacket if you are planning to head out to see fireworks this evening.

For our Firework Forecast, Cheyenne unfortunately will have a rain chance through the evening which will persist into the overnight hours. In addition to any storms that move through earlier on, it might not be a good night for launching fireworks around the area. Be sure to plan ahead just in case the rain continues

For Casper, things are going to be a bit better for us. The clouds are going to start to break up and give us some clearing and with the scattered nature of the storms today, there is a chance things stay nice and dry for us to launch some fireworks. Things will be on the chilly side however so pack a jacket in case things get cold, especially with the breeze blowing on through.

For our extended forecasts, in Cheyenne, a stormy week is ahead with storm chances through the week into our weekend. Next week though looks much better with plenty of sun and warmer temperatures. A much cooler day tomorrow too as our high is below 60.

For Casper, we could see some spotty showers popping up all week and today is our coolest day of the week but warmer temperatures and plenty of sun are on the way for us next week.

Overall, a wet and stormy 4th of July this year unfortunately but better weather will return for us soon. Stay safe this holiday and especially around fireworks and let’s enjoy the day.
