CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now/PRESS RELEASE) - The summer music scene is in full force in Wyoming.

Joining Cheyenne’s ‘Fridays on the Plaza’ and Casper’s summer concert series is the Laramie Municipal Band and their own series of live shows.

The weekly series has five concerts scheduled for this summer, the first of which will take place Wednesday, July 4 during the “Freedom has a Birthday” celebration. After this performance, the concerts will occur every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. beginning July 12.

The free and open to the public shows will take place at Washington Park’s Edgar J. Lewis Bandshell just as they have in previous years.

The band is made up of community members from Laramie and Albany County in addition to a few high school and University of Wyoming students. This year, the band will again be under the direction of Dr. Robert Belser, UW’s director of bands.

Since the 1950s, Laramie has been working in conjunction with UW to provide citizens with a free concert series that can be enjoyed by all ages. In the past, the concert series has featured music from many categories including marches, show tunes, popular songs and music of the West.
