CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - We have a stormy day ahead for Wyoming with showers and storms popping up and moving through the area so let’s take a look at what to expect with these storms today.

Our radar shows showers and storms popping up as of 12:30 PM

We don’t have a risk of severe weather today as the main risks should stay to our southeast. However, just because we have a general risk of thunderstorms and not of severe weather doesn’t mean we won’t see active weather. These storms can bring heavy rain, strong winds, and even some possible hail. Some storms just east of the Wyoming/Nebraska border have already produced 0.75″ hail stones. Also the heavy rain could create flooding problems due to the amount of rain we’ve already had this month and week alone.

The rain won’t just stop today either. Our Futurecast shows rain and storms moving through the Cheyenne area both Friday evening and on Saturday afternoon. We could see more heavy rain and thunder in the Cheyenne area and areas surrounding Cheyenne.

For our extended forecast, scattered showers and storms will linger in the Cheyenne area until Saturday afternoon. After that the sun will come out and give us a nice few days of dry time and warm temperatures before storms move back into the area next Wednesday and they could bring severe weather with them. We’ll keep an eye on the atmospheric conditions as the day approaches to keep you up to date on any potential for severe weather.

For Casper, it’s a different story. Showers possible today and tomorrow but starting Saturday, things are going to warm up nicely with plenty of sun and dry weather to get outside and enjoy summer with. We’ll cool off a bit on Wednesday but we’ll likely stay dry all next week.
