Fishin’ for the Mission Fishing Tournament Fundraises for Their Discipleship Program
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Wyoming Rescue Mission concluded their two day fundraising event Fishin’ for the Mission, with a fishing tournament held at the Red Butte Ranch.
The fundraiser started with the first night with the guide meet and greet dinner, and boat auction as well. Community Engagement Manager, Adam Flack says at the dinner they, “get people to purchase boats, either with their company or individually. Typically with companies around the state of Wyoming. All of the money that we are able to bring in with the tournament goes towards our discipleship program and any needs around the mission.”
The discipleship program a year long program that is meant for people who want to turn their lives around for any reason they may have. They use the funds to help turn people’s lives around for the better with this program.
The first night of the event saw people not only purchase boats, but also auction on which team would come out on top of the event. Teams included two people who were assigned a guide to help assist on which area would be best to fly fish.
One of the guides, Tyler Sulek said, “We’ve just had so much moisture that the river has dealt with a lot of creeks dumping mud in, and we had to be selective with where we were going and finding fish. The nice thing is when its off-color, you usually catch a little bigger fish, so we caught some really nice fish today, and got to fight a bunch, and lose a bunch, and yeah its always good.”
After holding this event for the tenth time, they are already starting sign ups for next years Fishin for the Mission Fundraiser. Flack said, “Especially for next year, we have an early bird registration. If you get signed up before the end of the year, we’ll give a discount. We also are always looking for sponsorships, if somebody wants to pay for a breakfast, or lunch whatever it may be. Obviously its saving the Mission money and contributing in a good way as well. We will fill up pretty quickly, the tournament typically does, but we’d love to have some new people out there if we can.”
