CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The City of Laramie is still looking for young leaders.
Applications to become a member of the Laramie Youth Council for the 2023-24 school year have been extended.
The LYC is open to students aged 14-19 attending school in Albany County.
Activities include attending monthly meetings, working on projects that benefit the Laramie community, and learning about local government.
Past projects have centered around issues like recycling, solar power, mental health, and youth record expungement.
Beyond education and projects, however, the LYC gives kids a platform.
“Laramie Youth Council was created to provide members with a better understanding of government operations as well as provide a voice to the youth of community on topics that will affect them,” according to the City of Laramie website.
