Inmate death Larimer County Jail
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (PRESS RELEASE) -A Larimer County Jail inmate has died after attempting suicide and spending a week in the hospital.
On May 25, 2023 at 10:37 a.m., a Larimer County Jail deputy was conducting routine inmate status checks and discovered an unresponsive man in his cell. Additional deputies and jail medical staff responded and provided first aid until emergency medical crews arrived and transported the man to an area hospital. The man was the only inmate in the cell.
The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) was consulted. Based on the circumstances, CIRT determined that the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office would investigate in coordination with the district attorney’s office.
On June 1, 2023, the man died in the hospital. The Larimer County Coroner conducted an autopsy on June 2 and has released the man’s identity, as well as cause and manner of death.
“The loss of life deeply impacts our jail employees. I sincerely appreciate the rapid response by deputies and medical staff who did everything they could to help this man,” said Sheriff John Feyen. “Regardless of the decisions that bring people to our jail, the inmates in our care are treated with the respect and dignity that every person deserves.”
