CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Last night, the sirens of Casper police cars could be heard around the Hall of Justice... But no one was in trouble.

As you may know, it’s National Police Week. And the Casper Police Department got in on the fun by holding a Block Party for the public. Some of Casper PD’s finest were manning the grill, offering up free hamburgers and hot dogs.

And the weather was perfect for some free ice cream cones. For the kids, there was basketball, sidewalk art, and a mini-pony for petting.

Not to mention some citizens, and even an officer, broke out some dance moves to music provided by a local DJ.

One local resident we spoke with says the block party is a win-win for everyone.

Lobo, a motorcycle rider with the Guardians of the Children, said “I think anytime, any kind of agency like this, can open their doors... Let people get inside there... Meet with them... It’s going to empower both sides of them. That being the people as well as law enforcement. I think it’s a great thing.”
