Prep Athlete of the Week: Parker O’Neill, Kelly Walsh
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Kelly Walsh boys soccer team has been on a war path all season, and they are still undefeated going into the state tournament.
The Trojans just went out and won the 4A west regional over the weekend, and as always, Parker O’Neill played a big role in their success. He said that his teammates have made his job easier all season because of their all-around versatility.
”It’s good because we all trust each other on where we can play, because everyone on our team can pretty much play everywhere. So there’s nothing like, no one lets each other down. We all play very well together, and we know what we can all do and it helps each other out,” O’Neill said.
This is a culmination of a fantastic season for O’Neill; he spearheaded a potent Trojans offense that has dominated 4A. He led the team in both goals and assists with 11 and 10 respectively, and continued his top notch play last weekend with a score and an assist in their two games.
While it’s been a spectacular year up to this point, he remains laser focused on the ultimate prize coming up.
”We’re feeling pretty good. I mean we’ve got a week of practice left so we’re going to go hard during that week, and then keep getting better. Then push through our last couple games, three games that we want to play and win all three. So we can win states,” O’Neill said.
Congratulations to Parker O’Neill on his stellar performances over the weekend and this season.
