Cody Hape commits to University of Wyoming for track
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cody Hape committed to the university of Wyoming, making him just the second Burns athlete to ever go to Division 1. Cody was originally looking for out-of-state options for his next move, but found a lot to like out in Laramie.
“I saw it and it just felt like home. Everyone there felt like family, and the facilities are great, it was pretty sweet. I knew exactly where I wanted to be.,” Cody said about his visit to UW.
Cody has found a lot of success on the track for Burns. This past weekend, he placed first in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, and took second in the 100.
Cody made an impact across three sports for the Broncs, playing important roles in their football and basketball season as well.
He said that he’s sad that one journey is ending, but looks forward to his next opportunity.
“It’s sad, it’s disappointing because I’m gonna miss all of it, but I also have a lot to look forward to with college, too. With track, it’s very exciting, especially with UW and the Mountain West Conference. So, I feel like I’m gonna have just as much fun in college as I did this year,” Hape said.
Congratulations to Cody on the achievement.
