The Kelly Walsh Girls Soccer Team Ramps Up in the Second Half, and the Mustangs Net Two in the Regular Season Finale
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The final day of the 4A high school soccer regular season concluded today, with a couple of games taking place in the Oil City.
The Kelly Walsh Lady Trojans hosted Rock Springs, and they were looking to close out their weekend with a clean 2-0, with regionals just around the corner. Kelly Walsh held control of the ball very early on, and made it hard on Rock Springs to clear the ball. They found several opportunities to find the net, but were just out of reach early on. It wouldn’t be until near the end of the first half that the Lady Trojans would find their first goal, courtesy of Peyton Hill. In the second half, Kelly Walsh found their rhythm, as Hill ended the day with a hat trick and led Kelly Walsh to victory over the Tigers 5-1.
Natrona hosted Evanston in their final regular season game, and this one was as back and forth as you can get. Evanston found themselves several opportunities to score early on, but there was one obstacle they couldn’t get past, and his name was Zach Hawley. No matter how close to the net the Outlaws got to the net, he was there to block any attempt to score. The Mustangs still needed to score themselves, and they found one before the end of the first half, thanks to a beautiful pass by Jael Reyes, who found Rogan Potter in the box for the goal. Both teams scored once more in the second half, and it was Natrona who closed out their season with a 2-1 win.
