CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Pickleball. It’s a sport that’s been stealing tennis courts, senior citizens’ hearts, and now, world records.

The 48-48-48 Pickleball Challenge – a Guinness World Record attempt at playing 48 games of pickleball across the lower 48 in less than 48 days – is coming to the Oil City on May 13 at 11 a.m. at the 307 Tennis Club, located at 455 Thelma Dr.

The challenge kicked off May 1 in Mobile, Alabama and Wyoming will be the 13th stop on the tour. In Casper, the team – which hails from Florida and includes Dean Matt (the “Pickleball Pilot”) and Shannon Yeager – will square off against Luke Gilliam and Tyler Daugherty from Visit Casper.

“We’re excited to be part of this world record breaking event,” Tyler Daugherty, CEO of Visit Casper, said. “It’s a great chance for Casper to participate in a cool endeavor, while also giving us the opportunity to learn more about the ever-growing sport of pickleball.”

Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend.

“We’d love to have as many Casper locals as possible come to this game,” Daugherty added. “It’s amazing to see pickleball grow and take off, especially here in Casper.”
