Central Softball’s offense explodes Tuesday in doubleheader sweep of Wheatland
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Monday, the Lady Indians went to Laramie and came back with a two-game sweep of the fifth ranked Lady Plainsmen. Just a day later they faced Wheatland, and the momentum continued to build.
The first leg of the doubleheader was not in question for very long. Central took a 5-0 lead out of the first inning, and extended that in the second thanks to a three run shot from Izzy Thomas. The Lady Bulldogs would answer with a Rylee Coates grand slam in the third to get them back in striking distance, but after that it was all Lady Indians. Izzy Kelly picked up an inside-the-park home run, and later Cameron Moyte left the yard to help power a stretch of 17 unanswered runs en route to a 26-4 victory.
The competitiveness of game two was the complete opposite of the opening contest. Wheatland jumped out to an 12-4 lead, but Central came roaring back with an eight run fourth inning to tie it all up going into the final frame. The Lady Indians were able to stall the Lady Bulldogs’ offense in the top half, and Chloe Ross was the hero in the bottom half with a walk-off RBI single to win 13-12.
